He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan Stuefen; and his parents, Hugo and Carrie.
He is survived by his children; Michael Stuefen, Kathryn Stuefen, Susan Stuefen, Carrie Bates, his siblings; Joanne Jochum (Cyril), Bob Stuefen (Elaine), Richard Stuefen (Alma), grandchildren; Johnny Bates, Jackson Bates, Jaymee Bates, Jenna Stuefen, many nieces, nephews & extended relatives.
John was born in Big Lake Township on June 4th, 1936, where he lived until he married Joan and started his beautiful family in New Hope, MN. He worked as a machinist for most of his life and was a dedicated father; caring and providing for his family.
Dad loved his time spent up north, hunting, fishing and relaxing at his lake place in Cross Lake, MN. He enjoyed woodworking and building things with his hands. He really loved spending time with his family and relatives, and enjoyed any occasion to cookout and use the pig roaster he'd built. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
