Robert Hugh Gillies

Robert Hugh Gillies passed away on Monday, April 8, 2019 at Abbotsford Regional Hospital with his devoted wife and partner of 47 years, Dawne Gillies by his side. Beloved father to Matthew Gillies, Heather Tuckett (Marcus) & Graham Gillies (Lise); a generous and loving Gramps to his grandsons Jackson & Benji Tuckett (Australia) and granddaughter Cameron Gillies (Vancouver Island). He is predeceased by his mother Barbara, father Hugh and brother Ian (early childhood). Bob’s dedication to music, academic pursuits in science, language and travel will forever be remembered. He was an accomplished piper, PhD (Pharm D), studies in Spanish, with a love of biking and swimming and countless journeys to countries near and far are only some of the accomplishments that illustrate his innate curiosity for life and experience that inspired all who knew him. His life is affectionately celebrated by his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all of those whose lives he touched. Bob was born in Vancouver BC and will be laid to rest at a private family burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Burnaby on Saturday, April 27, 2019. A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, April 28, at Crown Villa II, 1450 McCallum Street, Abbotsford, BC from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
