Durgica Georgina Presler (nee Novakovic) Georgina Presler of Lafleche, SK formerly of Assiniboia, SK, passed away December 25, 2018 at the Lafleche Health Centre at the age of 97. Georgina was born June 22, 1921 in Velika Pisanica, Croatia to Misko and Mary Novakovic. In 1938, she married Josip Presler and together owned and operated a store in their village. They welcomed 4 children, Rudolf and Adolf, who died at tender ages, and Hilda and Joseph. Georgina was widowed in 1945 and carried on, now farming, to support her family. In 1967, she, with her son and his young family, joined her daughter and family, as well as mother-in-law and father-in-law, Agnes and John Presler, in Canada. Settling in Assiniboia, she was employed at the Pioneer Lodge until retirement. Georgina was predeceased by her husband Josip, two infant sons, one brother and sister-in-law in Croatia; son Joseph ‘Joe’ Presler, and son-in-law Nick Markovinovich. Georgina is survived by daughter Hilda (Joe) Hildebrandt and children Danny (Agnes) Markovinovich and children Nicholas and Lindsay, and Jasmine (Les) Deblois and children Devyn and Cole; daughter-in-law Marianne and children Jeannette (Pierre) Jalbert and children Megan, Kellen, Jeredd; Joanne (Mitch) Fournier and children Alyssa, Ashley, Jenessa, Evan; Georgie (Rodney) Perigny and sons Payton and Keaton; Alen Presler; Lisa Presler (Curtis Becker) and sons Adam, Alex, Brendan, Owen; three great-great-grandchildren Lucas, Hayden and Isla; as well as one niece and one nephew in Croatia. In Baba’s yard, her garden grew. She tended to her garden much like she did her family; watering with love, weeding with protection, and offering her hand in support where needed. She took great joy and pride in watching her sewn seeds grow into a beautiful, bountiful garden with her hard work. Baba shared her love for her family in many ways, from the gentle stroke of a hand in hers, to the many squishy-cheeked kisses, knitted slippers, telling of stories, the baking of cream puffs and a fond walk with loved ones through her garden to pick juicy raspberries. Baba lived a humble life and will be lovingly remembered for her simple gifts to this world. A private memorial service for family to honour and celebrate Georgina's life will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy for Georgina’s family may be shared at www.rossfuneralservice.com. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK.
