James J. Shea

Chairman, Western Quebec School Board and Retired Superintendent, Ottawa Catholic School Board It is with deep sadness that we announce the untimely death of James Shea of Aylmer, Qc, surrounded by his beloved wife of 55 years, Theresa and his loving daughters Ann, Karen, Cathy and Lisa. He is fondly remembered by his sons-in-law Dean Jenne, Peter Gleason, Ben Jannison and Dan Saumure. His grandchildren Isaac, Julia, Olivia, Claudia, Anna, Abram, Clara, Jude and Hallie will forever cherish many fond memories of their time with grandpa. Jimmy is predeceased by his loving parents Addie Lagarde and Leonard Shea and his brother Marcel. He is survived by his siblings Raymond (Rose Marie), John (Helen), Cletus (Frances) and Helen (late Alex) and many nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues. Jim was a lifelong educator who championed the underdog. His mission was to provide the best possible educational experience for students. He worked relentlessly for minority language rights, and was a strong advocate for inclusion, equity and justice for all. The family will receive condolences at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, 160 rue Principale in Aylmer at 10:00 a.m., funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. on Friday January 4th, 2019 followed by a reception in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Western Quebec School Board for the James Shea Memorial Fund, in support of disadvantaged students.
