Betty Jean Wright

Betty Jean (Woods) Wright, 81, of Olive Branch, MS died Sunday, July 7, 2019. She was survived by her brother, Gerald Woods (Johnnie) of Stanton, TN; and preceded in death by her parents, Herschal & Elsie (Swain) Woods. She was a loving mother of three children, daughter Debra McKay (Bob) of Collierville, TN; Mike White of Memphis, TN; and Tony White (Diane) of Coldwater, MS. She had seven grandchildren, Brian & Dusty White, Katie Carter, Jessica McKay, Lauren Baker, Brandy Cole and Chelsea Dulaney, and fourteen great-grandchildren. Betty was born in Washington, DC on January 23, 1938. She worked hard most of her life starting as a beautician, then moving into government service for the IRS and then to the VA Hospital in Memphis, TN until she retired in 2010. She was a fun-loving, sweet woman who loved the Lord, she loved to travel, read and do all sorts of puzzles. We know that she is standing with God and we will carry her memory in our hearts always. A gathering of family and friends for Betty will be held Friday, July 12, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, Tennessee. A celebration of life service will occur Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 10:00 AM, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, Tennessee. Interment to follow at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
