Obituary of Malcolm D. Tiller
Malcolm Douglas Tiller, 89 of Beaumont, Texas went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 2, 2019. Malcolm is survived by his daughters, Paula Martin, Kim Hester and son-in-law Scott Hester, son David Tiller, and daughter-in-law Jolyn Tiller all of Beaumont, Texas; many nieces and nephews including Gloria Burks and husband Rocky Burks of Warren, Texas; grandchildren, Patrick and Nathan Tiller, Caitlin Milich, Austin, Weston, and Madison Martin, Zachary and Erin Hester; great niece and nephew, Jamie and Joshua Burks; great grandchildren, Laydon Hinklin, Maggie Grace and Hudson Martin, Parker and Oliver Milich, Cayden and Scarlett Tiller. Malcolm is preceded in death by his loving wife, Rachel Tiller, son Kirk Douglas Tiller, brothers; Floyd, Woodrow, Ernest, Paul and Glen Ray and sisters; Ethel Mae and Doris. Malcolm graduated from French High School in 1948 and Lamar University in 1957. He worked for Sun Oil Company as an Internal Auditor for 15 years, then he was appointed the first Internal Auditor for the City of Beaumont in 1969. He then went on to be the Business Manager for the Beaumont State Center of MHMR in 1973, and retired after 20 years. Malcolm continued to work for himself as a CPA. He was on the Board of Directors and was treasurer for Beaumont Products and Services serving the mentally handicapped and other handicapped individuals. He was a volunteer for CASA and was court appointed to be a special advocate for abused children. He was also a past member of the Spindletop Optimist Club. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Bevil Oaks where he served on their Budget Committee. Malcolm served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, 1951-1953; he was a Corporal in the 31st Infantry Division while stationed in Japan and received an Honorable Discharge. Malcolm was an avid golfer, sports enthusiast and loyal supporter of Lamar University athletics. Most of all, Malcolm loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, programs, graduations and the list goes on and on. Sunday dinner and Cowboy Football brought a big smile to his face. He acquired many friends throughout his life and was adored by all. He brought so much happiness, love and laughter to his family and will be deeply missed. Visitation will be Monday, July 8, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
