Obituary of Harley Lee Blevins
Harley Lee Blevins, 73, passed away Wednesday May 29, 2019 at the VA Hospital in Beckley WV. He served his country proudly during the Vietnam War; he was awarded four medals for his service. Harley was the son of William Calvin (Babe) Blevins and Cleo Oma Hurst Blevins. He was a wonderful son; loving husband, devoted father, and he absolutely adored his grandchildren. Harley was preceded in death by his parents, and oldest brother, Gerald, and youngest brother, Rodney He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Carol Ann Smith Blevins; their two children, son, Gregory Scott Blevins, (Shannon), daughter, Shanna Danielle Blevins Harper (Anthony). He was the proud papaw of Madison Brooke Blevins, twins, Wyatt James Crisp and Harley Makenna Crisp, Cole Mason Harper, Andrew Chase Harper and Tristen Nicole Harper; sisters, Elinor Forren, Jean Blake, Julia Slagle, Alliene, Johnson (Norris), Christine Kincaid (Kenneth), Darleen Willis (Mike); three brothers, Jarrett (Barbara) Ralph (Sharon) and Rondal (Winky) Blevins (Arlene). He is also survived by his wife’s family whom he loved as his own; Linda Honeycutt and husband, Jim, Michael Wayne Carmack and wife Sherry, Susan K. Fox and husband, Rick, J.D. Carmack and wife, Kelli. Also a host of nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends; special friends who were always there for Harley and his wife; Henry and Janet Rife, George and Terri Taylor and his buddy Jerry Richmond. Last but certainly not least the amazing staff on the sixth floor, the continuous care community of the Beckley VA Medical Center. My children and I will always remember the care, compassion, and love for Harley all the Veterans, God Bless you all. To the other patients, you are the most amazing and caring group of people, thank you for the family connection, I love you all. A memorial service will be held Sunday June 9, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Friends may gather with the family from 1-2 PM.
