Obituary of Donald E. Engle
Donald E. Engle was escorted by his guardian angel to meet the Savior he loved at the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 surrounded by his wife and family. Don was born on September 1, 1941 in Binghamton, NY. He was predeceased by his parents, Laura and Richard Engle and siblings, Richard, Louise, and Robert. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lynda Engle and his siblings, Lois and Laura. Don was a loving dad to Mark Engle (Julie) of Lafargeville NY, Ken Engle (Susan) of Roscoe NY, Lisa Brown (David) of Albemarle NC, Jeannie Orzell (Mike) of Triangle NY, Matthew Weyant (Keira) of Grahamsville NY, and Danel Pietrowski (Marty) of Windsor NY. Don was blessed with 19 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He graduated from Chenango Valley High School in 1960, then proudly served his country in the United States Navy (1960-1964). During the time he worked at Singer Link, he was involved with building the simulators that were used for the Apollo 11-13 missions. Following that, he enjoyed his career at United Parcel Service which he later retired from. Don was best known for his sense of humor and love for Christ. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather (“Pop Pop”) who was proud to be a “jack of all trades and master of none”. He never met a stranger and was known as the Deacon of Joy. A celebration of Don’s Life will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at 2:00pm at the Windsor Free Methodist Church (Also known as the Lighthouse Community Church), 103 Main Street Windsor NY 13865. Service will be followed by a meal reception at the United Methodist Church, 56 Chapel Street Windsor. All are welcome.
