Alex Nick Costas

On Sunday, June 2, 2019, Alex Nick Costas, passed away at the age of 65. Alex was born on May 22, 1954 in Birmingham, Alabama to Nick and Cleo Costas. He graduated from Minor High school in 1972, then attended University of Montevallo. Alex worked at Allstate as a lauded claims representative. Alex was a talented musician and keyboard player. When he wasn’t spending time with his sons and family, he was making music with his friends from all parts of the world. His music touched not only the hearts of his family, but all who had the privilege to hear him play. Alex was preceded in death by his father, Nick Costas, and his mother, Cleo Costas. He is survived by his sons, Charles Costas and Nicholas Costas, his sister, Christine Warren (John), his nephew, Taylor McMurtrey (Brittany), and many other cousins. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 from 5-7pm. A Trisagion prayer will be offered immediately following visitation. A funeral will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 12pm. There will be visitation before the funeral at 11am. Visitations and the funeral service will be at Holy Trinity-Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery. There will be a traditional Makaria (lunch) at the church after the burial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity-Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral. May Alex’s memory be eternal.
