Anita “Ann” Laird Mainor Durgee, 75, of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed on Sunday, March 31st, 2019, after a long brave battle with cancer. Ann was born to William “Stumpy” Admiral Wiggins and Anita Kerr Laird Wiggins October 9th, 1943 in Miami, Florida. Her birth father was killed in the war in 1944. Ann was later adopted by Clifford Mainor, her loving step-father. She graduated from Hialeah High School in 1961 and married Richard Lee Durgee in 1962. They raised two sons for 16 years and divorced in 1978. Ann became a nurse in 1977 and worked for both Palmetto General and Baptist Hospitals in Miami. She was a nurse for over 25 years, retiring in 2008. She is survived by two children, Richard Scott Durgee and William Todd Durgee of Delray Beach, Florida, and her mother Anita Mainor Fadgen Faulk, 95, of Jacksonville, Florida. She also leaves to cherish her memory an older brother William Mainor of Parkton, North Carolina and five grandchildren; Andrew, 35, and his wife Jamie, Alexis, 30, Austin, 22, Trudi, 22, and Andra, 18, and great-grandchild Adelynn, one month. Ann’s family and friends will remember her as a loving, beautiful, and dedicated caregiver with an infectious laugh. She was preceded in death by William Admiral Wiggins, birth father, Clifford Mainor, adopted father, and Laird Mainor, younger brother. Service is scheduled for Wednesday April 17th, 11:00 am at Boca Raton Mausoleum, 451 SW 4th Ave, Boca Raton, FL, 33432. A reception will follow in her home. The family requests that flowers be sent to the Boca Raton Mausoleum. The family would also like to thank Hospice Trustbridge and all the nurses and aides who assisted with her care.
