The loss of my father makes my heart feel heavy with sadness. Though we would talk about him leaving us some day, it doesn’t stop the hurt. This guys was my rock, best friend, my counselor, my teacher, the laugher of my jokes, my mechanic, house builder. My brother and I loved to fish, he would work his 8 hours, then come home, load the fishing gear, take us and our friends to the lake to spend the rest of the evening fishing. He always demonstrated a self sacrificing quality, willing to help others, made me so proud that he was my father.

Roberto Becerra Anton.

Whew! Where do I start? He is my hero. I have fond memories of going fishing, driving up to the mountains when it snowed, renting a cabin at Big Bear, giving him a hand while working on his cars and remodeling the house. I learned my love of gardening from him, and also how to use a Makita, other tools, electrical work and most importantly, how not to be afraid of trying something different. So I learned the motto "how hard can it be" from my dear dad.
He would bring me a treat almost everyday after work in his lunch pail and I got to take off his shoe laces and large work boots. What a treat that was for me!
The night before my wedding my florist called me to tell me she couldn't do my flowers and bouquet after all. I felt devastated and was crying. My father hugged me and consoled me and told me not to worry. He promised he was going to make sure I had beautiful flowers, if it meant doing the flowers himself. He ended up calling my brother Johnny, and I had beautiful flowers and a beautiful bouquet at my wedding, just like he promised. That was the kind of father he was to me, he was a man of his word, a man of action.
I love gardening and the outdoors because of him and learned so many different things from him.
Adrian and I had the grand privilege of studying the Bible with him in the 90s and seeing all the many changes he made in his life. My mother was so happy!
I can still hear him saying "epale!" "Pansa llena, corazon contento"
"if you're going to do something then you better do it right!" Humming all day long, and dancing around the house. I would lovingly call him "Bob the Builder" because he could make anything and fix anything. He wasn't negative, he always found a way.
I miss you already but look forward to seeing you in Paradise with my dear mom and Johnny.
