David Joseph Berze

Berze; David Joseph It is with great sadness our family wishes to announce the death of David Joseph Berze. Died Christmas Eve December 24, 2018 at Christenson Village Seniors Home, Gibson, B.C.(many thanks to the most kind and caring staff). Called by God after a life well lived. Loving husband of 66 years to Pearl Margaret Berze (Kovacs), devoted father to Sharon Harden(David), Daniel Berze (Josette), Caroline Taylor (John). Proud and dear “pops” to Andrew, Nicole, Nicholas, Alexander, Oliviah. Caring brother to William Berze (recently deceased July 2018) and sister Helen Dremak of Brantford. Very fond and proud of his many nieces and nephews. David began his life on May 27, 1931 in the small coastal community of New Waterford , Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, born to David Sr. and Kathleen(Fodor). The family moved to Brantford, Ontario where he met is soulmate Pearl Kovacs. They later moved to Etobicoke for work opportunities, and retired to the quieter pace of Owen Sound and later to Gibson B.C. where he was devotedly cared for by Caroline and John. David was a dedicated and loyal employee working as the Director of Corporate Advertising for United Co-operatives of Ontario for 30 years. He and his beloved wife Pearl cultivated many long lasting friendships over the years and cherished their time with family and friends many who have gone before them and are now rejoined in peace. The family will receive friends at the “Thorpe Brothers Funeral Home and Chapel” 96 West Street, Brantford on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Celebration of his Life will be held in the chapel on Saturday January 5, 2019 at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Farringdon Burial Ground, 287 Mount Pleasant Road, Brantford. Reception to follow and guests are welcome to join the family in a celebration of his life at the “Thorpe Brothers Carriage House” adjacent to funeral home.
