Obituary of Mr. Anton Kamensek
Anton Kamensek May 21, 1923 – March 2, 2018 It is with great sadness, but with gratitude for a life well-lived, that we announce the passing our of dad, Anton. He passed away at age 94 on March 2, 2018. He is predeceased by his wife, Christine and son, Robert (Elsie) and survived by children: George (Laurelyn), Christopher (Laura), Tony Jr., Leonard (Jill) and Diana (Kevin) along with 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, his sister Amalija and many extended family in the Vancouver area and Slovenija. Tony greeted everyone with a bright smile and warm handshake. He enjoyed the simple things in life - a good hat to wear, a long walk in the park, spending time in the garden, traveling with friends and Sunday visits with his family. He was a tinkerer by nature, curious to figure out how things worked, and he loved to fix, build and repurpose just about anything. His homemade wine was legendary and he offered it to anyone who dropped by. After retiring from the business he started in the 1960’s, our mom and dad enjoyed their retirement years, traveling in their motor home, cruising to countries worldwide and spending time at Cultus Lake. Our dad was also generous with his time. He served with the Knights of Columbus for many years, and as board member for Columbus Residence, as well as an usher at St. Casimir’s Church. And if any of us kids needed help with projects around our home, we could always count on our dad for advice and help. He also had a playful side and was affectionately know as 'The Prankster' by his grandkids. We are grateful that both our parents lived long, rich lives and for the strong family values they passed onto us. They will both be forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at St. Casimir's Polish Parish, 1187 27th Avenue East Vancouver, British Columbia with Reception in Ocean View Funeral Home's Fireside Lounge and Interment to follow in Ocean View Burial Park's section of 'Garden of Peace'.
