Rosa Pellegrino

Obituary Rosa Pellegrino October 3, 1926 - July 4, 2018 Rosa was born in Bitritto, Italy on October 3, 1926 and passed away peacefully on the morning of July 4, 2018 at George Derby Centre in Burnaby, surrounded by family and her friend Maria. She was predeceased by her husband Giovanni (1975) and is survived by her daughter Apollonia (Franco), grandchildren Daniel and Robert, sister Laura and brother Carlo in Italy. Rosa married her best friend Giovanni in 1947 and together they set out to build a family and a home. As was the norm in the post World War II era, Giovanni emigrated to Canada in 1953 in order to fund the building of their home, leaving in Italy Rosa and daughter Apollonia. 1961 brought a change in plans and the family was re-united in Vancouver where Rosa and Giovanni worked tirelessly to achieve their goal of purchasing a home in Burnaby. Throughout her life, Rosa was a perfectionist who took pride in nurturing her family, creating beautiful garments and growing a lush garden. To family and friends she gave unconditional support and encouragement. Her joy in life came from being surrounded by family and friends. She was seldom to be found at home alone. Her quiet determination and deep wisdom are memorable and live on in those she leaves behind. Thank you mom for all you have done for us and the lovely memories. You will always remain in our hearts. A special thank you to Dr. Burns and all the staff at George Derby Centre for welcoming her as a member of the George Derby Family and taking great care of her in the last two years, treating her with respect, compassion and dignity.
