Ester Apci-Toth

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother Ester Apci of Calgary, on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the age of 97 yrs. Ester was born in Vojvodina, Serbia on March 26, 1922. She immigrated to Canada in 1993 with her late husband Janos Apci-Toth. She had to give so much to her family and people around her. In her young age she became a ladies tailor and dressmaker, creating so many beautifully designed articles of clothing in a time when the clothing industry was walking in “small shoes”. Later on, Ester dedicated her life to family, grandchildren and great grandchildren with unconditional love. Ester will be greatly missed by her two daughters: Maria (Mike) of Calgary and Ester of California; two grandchildren, Heidi (Josef), and Csaba (Tanya); two great grandsons, Joey and Dennis. She is survived by her younger sister Margita and her children Tibor, Anica, Nataly and Katharine, her brother Ferenc’s children Ferko, Irenke, Igor and her sister Anna’s children Zolna (Gergely), Monica and Emma. She is predeceased by husband Janos Apci-Toth, her eldest granddaughter Emily, her brother Ferenc and her sister Anna. Ester also leaves extended families Apci, Varga, Gyorfi, Laslo, Balog and many friends in Serbia. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 2:30 p.m., at Foster’s Garden Chapel – 3220 4th Street NW (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) with Reverend Bertalan Bocskoras officiating.
