Thomas William Addinall

ADDINALL, Thomas William Thomas William Addinall MM passed away peacefully at the Didsbury Hospital on Friday, June 28, 2018 at the age of 93 years. Tom is lovingly remembered by his children; Chris (George) Dunn, Ian Addinall, and Gillian (KP) Capewell, his grandchildren; Lance (Shannon) Dunn, Courtney (Todd) Wallace, Trent (Trish) Dunn, Tanya Madge, and Keith (Shyla) Madge, his great grandchildren; Tyson, Sarah, Nic, Keauna, David, Elijah, Connor, Kayley, Echo, Aidan, and Ben, as well as several special friends; Rita, Joan, Pauline, Peter Brown, Alan Hunter, and the community of Airdrie. He was predeceased by his infant daughter Carol Ann (1948), his loving wife Muriel (1974), his companion Faye (2015), and his grandchildren; infant Kelly Patricia Capewell (1991), and Lyle Scott Madge (2009). Born in England in 1925 Tom joined the British Army Northumberland Fusiliers at 16 years old lying about his age. He received the Military Medal for his actions in Italy in 1944. In 1947 he married his wife Muriel, together they had four children. Besides the army, Tom was also a police officer in England. In 1965 the family immigrated to Canada, where Tom worked for the Alberta Solicitor General in corrections until the time of his retirement. Tom was Assistant Deputy Director of the Calgary Remand Center. Through his life Tom lived in Calgary, Portage La Prairie, Victoria, and Airdrie for the last seven years. A special thanks to all the staff at the Didsbury Hospital Acute Care for their exceptional care of our dad. A Celebration of Tom’s Life will be held at Woodside Seniors Club, 41 Woodside Dr. N.W., Airdrie, on Saturday, July 7, 2018 between 1:00p.m. – 4:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Airdrie Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund.
