GRAY, Maureen Rose (nee Spring) R.N. passed away on March 9, 2019, in her 87th year. Maureen is survived by her children Caren Clemens (Peter), Michael (Linda), Andrew, Derek (Kim Mordaunt), grandchildren Nicole (Clemens) Schnarr (Nathan) and Jon Clemens (Jenine Paul) and great granddaughter Clara Rose Schnarr. Predeceased by her husband Allan Duane Gray, parents Mary Spring and Louis Royce and siblings Angela and Alexander (Alan). Maureen was born in London, England and raised in and around London by her mother Mary. Maureen completed her nursing training in London and midwife training in Glasgow, Scotland. Maureen emigrated to Canada in 1956 and settled in Preston, where she met her husband Allan on a blind date on Friday, September 13, 1957 and they were married on July 19, 1958. Maureen and Al raised their four children in Preston while Maureen practised nursing at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. Maureen was an active volunteer at the Self Help Store, and employing her knitting skills for whoever would ask. Maureen enjoyed nothing more than a properly prepared cup of tea and something sweet to go along with it. Maureen and Al enjoyed their time together at the cottage and on extensive trips around the globe; China, Hawaii, Morocco, Galapagos, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, along with innumerable trips to Saskatchewan and England. The family would like to extend their greatest gratitude to the staff at Saint Luke's, and her walking friend Shirley Knowles that made Maureen’s last years comfortable and fun. A visitation will be held at Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge on Friday, March 15th, 2019 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, to be followed by a service on Saturday, March 16th at 3:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations to Saint Luke's Place Foundation Welcome Home Capital Campaign or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
