Donald Ray Wilson

Donald Ray Wilson, 81, died peacefully at home on July 8th 2019.

Born in New Brighton Pennsylvania, February 2nd 1938, he was the second child of Loyal and Sylvia Ballard Wilson. He grew up in Elwood City Pennsylvania and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1956. Don attended Geneva College for a year, then enlisted in the Navy and served from 1957-61. After the Navy he began his 27 year career in the Savings and Loan Industry moving up to executive positions at companies in both California and Colorado.

He was active in community service with the Kiwanis Club in San Diego and San Jose, and also enjoyed volunteering at The Republican Business and Professional Club, The International Visitors Center and the YMCA. In 1991 he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Regis University. He then embarked on his second career as an account executive with Menk & Associates and then Keller Lowery insurance agencies from 1992 to 2002.

Don enjoyed golfing, scuba diving, skiing, traveling, reading, music,“Nakita”, James Bond, and Vince Flynn. He also enjoyed discussing current political and business issues with friends, associates, and after retirement his breakfast club.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years Judy (Lyons) Wilson, his first wife Patsy Bradshaw and their three children: Tomi Anne Wilson of Basalt CO; Jeffrey Ray Wilson of San Diego CA; Sylvia Marcella Levardo of Apple Valley CA, six grandchildren: Nicole Desautel of Florida; Sean Levardo, Alex Wilson, and Mark James Levardo of California; Joshua Steinberg, and Anna Steinberg of Colorado; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Donna Wilson, four nieces and nephews, and their children. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother Loyal Wilber Wilson.
