Billy Maurice Buchanan

Billy Maurice Buchanan, 82, of Birchwood, Tennessee, passed away Friday, May 10, 2019. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Buchanan, mother, Pearl Rutledge Buchanan, son, Larry Buchanan and brother, Bobby Buchanan. Billy was born on December 4, 1936, in Knoxville, TN. He was a veteran of the U S Air Force and was stationed in Japan and Hawaii. He was an avid Tennessee Vols fan but his greatest joy came from watching his grandchildren play. Billy retired after 47 years of service with Standard Coosa-Thatcher Industries. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Frances Buchanan, three daughters, Annetta Mathis, of Birchwood, Angie Prueitt, of East Ridge, Tammy (Chris) Cotter, of Ooltewah, brother, Jimmy (Sue) Buchanan, of Chattanooga, fifteen grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 13, 2019 at Chattanooga National Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, May 12, 2019, at the funeral home.
