Rosalind Ching Pastor

Rosalind Ching Pastor June 22, 1920 - August 5, 2019 Long-time Streeterville resident Rosalind Ching Pastor died peacefully at home on August 5, 2019 at age 99. She was born in Shanghai, China and first came to Chicago in 1950 for a trade exhibition at Navy Pier. Unable to return home as the Communist Party overran China after the 1949 revolution, she decided to make Chicago her permanent home. For a number of years, she ran Ching & Company, a Michigan Avenue boutique featuring high-end Chinese textiles and antiquities. A well-known fixture on the Chicago social scene, she married Gregory Silvano Pastor in 1959 and the couple remained married until his death in May 1991; they had no children,. She is survived by nieces, nephews and extended family to whom she remained close throughout life. The family offers its gratitude to Teresa Guitche, Nena Brown, Corazon Ferrer and Viola Rybnick for their excellent care and dedication, as well as to the management and staff of the 860 Lake Shore Drive Trust for their help and support over so many years.
