Homer Sanford Hollar

Sanford Hollar, age 95, of Newton passed away peacefully Thursday, May 29, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at Carolina Caring in Newton. Born March 21, 1924, he was the son of the late Hullie Homer Hollar and Edith Abernethy Hollar. Sanford was a WWII veteran of the United States Army. He was a carpenter and retired from Yount Lumber Company. His family brought great joy to his life but it was his grand-children who brought the greatest enjoyment. He was the most caring, loving, generous man who will be missed by many and loved by all. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred E. Hollar; sisters, Nell Winebarger, Bell Pope Grace Pope, Maude Poovey, Dezzolo Winebarger; brothers, Lacy Hollar, Luther Hollar, George Hollar, Joe Hollar, Fred Hollar, Floyd Hollar, Alfred Hollar, Billy Hollar; and daughter, Patsy Jean Hollar. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Janice Dellinger; son, Kenneth Hollar; grandchildren, Michael, Christy, David, Tracie and 6 great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Claremont with Rev. Eric Hollar officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
