Obituary of Jovita Olivia Masters
Jovita Olivia Flores Masters, 64, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Jovita or Jovie as many affectionately called her was born on December 5, 1954 to Arminda Gonzalez Flores and Noe Baltazar Flores in McAllen, TX. She was raised by her Grandmother Olivia and her mother Arminda. She quickly accelerated in her education and made many of life-long friends in grade school. This life-long group of friends is often known as “The Valley Girls”. Jovie attended the University of Texas in Austin where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Speech. Jovie moved to Dallas after university where she met Robert “Rob” James Masters. Rob and Jovie married in August of 1987 in Austin, TX. Rob and Jovie settled into the city of Coppell, TX where they raised their beautiful children. Jovie was not only a wonderful mother and wife but also a busy professional who always found time to love and support those in her community. Jovie was always the first person to volunteer to help a friend in need. She had a knack for crafting and an unsurpassed eye for detail. She strove to make those around her feel loved and cared for in every way. She taught everything from Bible class to professional management classes. Jovie also loved to volunteer to help find dogs forever homes. She was a people (and dog) person through and through. Jovie has touched many lives and truly made the world a better place. Jovie was preceded in death by her Grandmother Olivia, her mother Arminda and son Travis. She is survived by her husband of 31 years Rob; her daughter Olivia and husband Alex; her grandchildren Joelle and soon to come Baby Alderson.
