Greta Margaret McLean

Greta Margaret Mclean (Roper) passed away on Dec 21, 2018 at North Island Hospital in Courtenay, BC. Greta was born in Brompton, England on Oct 24th 1927 and grew up in North Yorkshire, Harrogate. After graduation from nursing school in Darlington she set out in 1952 for Canada, arriving in Vancouver where she began work as an RN at St. Paul’s Hospital. In Vancouver Greta met Robert Ernest (Bob) McLean, they were married in 1954. In 1955 they moved to Victoria where Greta continued to work in nursing as they raised their family of six boys. In 2001 Greta moved to Courtenay where she enjoyed life with her many friends and family, volunteering, spending time on the beach, and riding her bike. Greta was predeceased by her husband Bob of 43 years. Greta leaves behind sons; Robert, Dan, Garrie (Kim), Steven (Kelly), Mickey, Douglas (Jacquie), and grandchildren; Linda, Chelsea, Aaron John, Aaron Issac, Graham, Julia, Rachel and Aiden, great grandson Daniel and older sister Mary. A Memorial Service will be held on January 19th, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. John the Divine Anglican Church, 579 5th St, Courtenay, BC. In lieu of Flowers, donations to the BCSPCA, BC Cancer Society or your local Hospice Society would be appreciated.
