Kimberly Lee Horan

57, of Dartmouth, passed away at the Dartmouth General Hospital on February 26th 2019, surrounded by her family, after a brief but heroic battle with cancer. Born in Bridgewater to the late Jeannette Harvey (Duncan) and Jim Bickle (Linda), Kim graduated from Oulton Business College in Moncton NB, where she lived until she met her former husband, Robert, of the RCAF. Married within six months, the couple transferred to serve a 4 year post with NATO at CFB Baden Soellingen, W. Germany. They traveled extensively throughout Europe, visiting many countries and making lifelong memories. Shortly after the birth of their first son, they returned home to Canada in 1991, and soon after they welcomed their second child. After several years in Moncton, NB and St John's, NL, Kim settled in Dartmouth in 1995. Kim made her career in retail, with her most recent position being at The Bay. The family is eternally grateful to the lifelong friends Kim made at The Bay, whose staff went above and beyond in accommodating Kim's health issues, including raising money to help support Kim during treatment. Remembered for her sharp intellect, fierce wit, and big heart, Kim leaves behind to mourn her sons, Matthew and Patrick of Dartmouth, brother David (Vanessa) of BC and sister Tammy (Bob) of AB; former husband Robert Horan (Jennifer) of France, as well as her two dogs Angus & Lily. Kim is also survived by countless aunts, cousins, and other relatives, as well as numerous close friends and acquaintances saddened by her loss. The family wishes to thank the LPN's, RN's, doctors, and other staff at DGH 3 West for their kindness and support during Kim's hospital stay. In addition, a special thank you to the staff at A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, for their kindness and support provided during this time. As per Kim's wishes, there will be no service or visitation. Donations can be made in Kim's name to a charity of choice.
