Obituary of Randy Dean Evans
Randy Dean Evans was born on June 23, 1956 in Bakersfield, CA. to Lupe and Audie Evans. He was raised in Ventura, CA where he attended elementary and high school. He was a member of the Ventura Boys Club where he became an athlete who excelled in track, basketball, and baseball. He treasured his lifelong friends that he knew since childhood while living on “The Avenue”. He kept in touch with them until the very end. In 1975 he moved to McFarland, CA where he worked in various occupations. He credits his brother Ron for teaching him the meaning of hard work while he worked for him as a cowhand. He was last employed by Delano rock as a cement truck driver. Throughout his years of employment he most enjoyed the interactions with the people he met or dealt with on a daily basis. Randy was a die-hard Raider, Laker, and Yankee fan and played in various basketball and softball leagues. He also served as an usher for St. Mary’s Catholic Church. On September 23, 1978 he married the love of his life, Martha (Martie) Evans. His greatest joy was being a father to their only child, Jacqueline Marie Evans and “Pa” to his only grandson, his beloved Eli Matthew Lorta. Randy fought a long and hard battle and passed peacefully on May 26, 2019 with his wife and daughter at his side. He is preceded in death by his father Audie Monroe Evans, his mother Lupe Evans, brothers Alfred “Champ” Fontes, Kenneth, Larry and Garry Evans, his son Randy Evans II, and his father-in-law Benito Mendez. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Martha (Martie) Evans, daughter Jacqueline Marie Evans and her fiancé Rudy Lorta, his beloved grandson Eli Matthew Lorta, mother-in-law Silvina Mendez, brothers David (Priscilla), Ron (Patti), Rocky (Wanda), Mark (Carrie), Rodney (Stephanie), sisters Marge Coker, Esperanza Harris, Rachel Rust, Bev (Dale) L’Anglois, Tammie (Danny) Nelson, and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, godchildren and circle of friends. Randy will be remembered for his kind and loving nature and will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Honor his memory by paying it forward in the way that he lived. We take comfort in knowing he is now “Pain Free” and resting in God’s embrace. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, June 7, 2019 at Delano Mortuary, 707 Browning Rd., Delano, CA.
