GAVEL, Emery William- Age 75 of Weymouth North, passed away March 2, 2018. Born in Southville, he was a son of the late Henry and Hazel (Brittian) Gavel. Emery is survived by his wife, Louise; step son, Rodney (Melissa Amero); step daughter, Trina (Stephen Ward); step grandson, Gabriel Doucette to whom Emery was affectionately known as Papa Em, as well as Jason and Jacob Gavel (Emery’s great nephews whom he loved like his own sons. Surviving also are his sisters, June Lombard, Glenice Fulton, his many in-laws whom he still felt like he was a part of their family; Marion (Melvin), Maurina, Betty, Flora (Stan), Jr., Sheila (Betty), Susan, Della (Larry), Wanda, John (Josephine); many nieces, nephews and his special cousin, Daisy along with many other cousins. Emery was predeceased by sisters, Dorothy, Clara; brothers, Perley, Chester, Winston, Sherman, Clarence, Darrell; half-brothers, Ensley, Arnold and in-laws, Arnold, Layton, Ivan, Beatrice, Mike and Calvin and Oakley. Emery was a guitar player with a beautiful voice and loved to sing Gospel Music. He was kind, honest, genuine and generous to all who knew him. Visitation will be 6-9 Wednesday, March 7 from the Calvary Baptist Church in Plympton and from where the funeral service will be held 2 pm on Thursday, March 8. Pastor Randy Risinger officiating. Interment in the Southville Church of Christ Cemetery with a reception to be held in the Calvary Baptist Church hall following the committal service. Donations in memory can be made to CNIB or Heart and Stroke Foundation of NS.
