Obituary of Margaret "Maggi" McNally
Sadly we announce, Margaret Mary "Maggi" McNally passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 16, 2019. Born in Glasgow Scotland of Irish ancestry on Nov 14th, 1940. Maggi immigrated to Canada in 1964 and resided for 30 years in Ottawa, Ontario. She was Administrative Director at the University of Ottawa’s Child Study Centre from 1971-1991. She studied Theology and Spirituality at St Paul’s University (Ottawa) and the Centre for Religious Development; Cambridge Mass. She received her certification as a Spiritual Director and Retreat Leader in 1998, and was a member of the Spiritual Direction Team at the Centre for Spiritual Growth in Ottawa from 1988-1994. She facilitated many Spiritual retreats and a Reflection Series’ in Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Scotland. She has spent many years in various missions in Scotland and Ireland. Maggi was certified as a Reiki and Reflexology Practitioner in 1994. Maggi ministered to many in various countries as after her retirement; Maggi spent 5 years on a nomadic spiritual pilgrimage, sharing her gifts with those she met along the way. Her travels brought her to Smith’s Cove, Nova Scotia in 1999, where she met and married Murray Clarence Myles, who was her “beloved” until his death in 2014. She met Murray (at a wee dance in Bear River). In her time in Smith’s Cove; Maggi has served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Smith’s Cove Fire Dept, member of the Cemetery Society and Historical Society of Smith’s Cove and a choir member at the Smith’s Cove Baptist Church. Upon Murray’s passing; Maggi then moved to Digby NS in 2014. Maggi lived her life out of a deep desire to be an Anamachara (Soul Friend) to those she met along the way and to share her deep faith in the Goodness of Life and Love. Maggi went home to her Lord and Savior Sat Feb 16th, 2019. Maggi is survived by her brothers, Peter of Ontario, Canada and Danny of Glasgow, Scotland along with many family members in Scotland and other parts of the world and her adopted family here in Canada. A celebration of Maggie's life will be1pm, Saturday June 15, 2019 at Smith's Cove Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Cress presiding. Interment in Smith-Sulis Cemetery, in Harbourview. Thank you to all the medical souls who has tended to Maggi on her final journey here, and a special thank you to those who stayed by her side in her final weeks. Maggie continued to touch souls to the very end.
