Obituary of Ronald Parker
Ronald Landers Parker May 18, 1938-March 25, 2019 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father Ronald Parker, 80 of Lower Sackville. Ron passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in VG site QEII. Born in Bear River, Ron was the son of the late Carlton and Nadine (Landers) Parker. Ron joined the RCAF on January 25, 1956. Ron often spoke of his favorite posting in Ramstein, Germany for 5 and a half years with 4ATAF (Allied Tactical Airforce). He and our family enjoyed our many travels throughout Europe. Ron retired in 1982 from the military and worked in the Dockyard until 1998. Ron and his wife Sheila enjoyed travelling throughout the Maritimes and across Canada with their RV. Ron had a deep passion for the woods and loved spending time “back at camp” at Lake LeMerchant. Ron was always willing to lend a hand, have a chat or two, talk politics and enjoyed walking at Dewolf Park. Ron is survived by daughter April (Doug) Hamilton, Bedford; son Kevin Parker (Barbara Riley), Bedford; grandchildren Jillian (Kris), Krista (Aaron), Destiny (Dave), Devin; great grandson Finley, siblings, Carlene (Ron) Parks, Allan (Sylvia) Parker, Nancy Christensen; also several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by his wife Sheila (Harris) Parker of 58 years. Heartfelt gratitude to his special friend Liz Purcell for her love and support. A special thank you to Dr. Ildiko MacDonald, also the Palliative Care staff. As per Ron’s wishes a private family service and interment will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bear River with Rev. Mark Cress presiding. Donations in memory of Ron may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Mount Hope Cemetery Fund, Bear River.
