Rhoda Bernice Greenberg

Greenberg, Rhoda Bernice (nee Schreiber), age 90 of South Setauket, NY passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019. Raised in Inwood, NY, the only child of Nettie and Emanuel Schreiber, she attended New York University, where she met her future husband Daniel, and made a home in Islip, NY for almost 60 years. Recently, she lived at Jefferson's Ferry, a retirement community. For many years, she was a vibrant and active volunteer and director at many institutions, including the Bay Shore Jewish Center and the Suffolk Y JCC, where she served on the board of directors for over 25 years, including a term as president. Over the course of her life she worked as a bookkeeper, real estate agent and entrepreneur. She is fondly remembered by family and many friends as a curious, positive, witty person, an avid lover of the arts, a wonderful cook and a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and a loyal friend. Rhoda is survived by her beloved children Amy Gannon (Joseph) and Eric (Janet Hieshetter) as well as her loving grandchildren Evan, Susie, Will and Anna. Funeral services will be held at I.J. Morris, Dix Hills, NY on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with internment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Bay Shore, NY.
