Karl August Blum

On November 28, 2018 Karl “Opa” Blum of Edmonton and Ladenburg (Germany) passed away surrounded by family at the age of 83. Karl is survived by Ingrid, his loving wife of 58 years and 2 daughters, Shareen Hanke (Holger) and Karen Andrews (Tom) and his sister Ilse Bühler. He was blessed with 4 grandchildren (Dieter, Sabina, Sarah, Parker) and many nieces and nephews in Canada and Germany. Karl was predeceased by his parents Karl and Mathilda Blum and his sister Hanna Kühn. Karl was an accomplished musician. He composed music and played his trumpet around the world. He loved traveling and spending time with his family. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 2 pm, on Wednesday December 5, at Hainstocks Funeral Home 9810 - 34 Avenue, Edmonton. Donations in memory of Karl Blum may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation in support of Research at the Cross Cancer Institute. The family would like to thank Dr. M. Sawyer and the amazing staff at the Cross Cancer Institute for their compassion and excellent care of our Opa and our family.
