Martha Kapchinsky

On May 25th, 2019 Martha Kapchinsky (nee Wedman) passed PEACEFULLY away at 92 years with her daughter Sue-Ann and sister-in-law Jean Kapchinsky near her side. Martha will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Sue-Ann (Gary) Donnelly and Joy Lynn (Grant) Henry; four grandchildren, Dale, Kamilla, Darelle, Shanelle; three great- grandchildren; Andrew, Ryder and Kyler; one brother Arnold(Anita) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her loving husband Ron; parents, Jacob and Lydia; sisters, Frieda, Ella, Alma and Ida; and brother Alfred. Born in Leduc, Alberta on March 27, 1927, Martha was raised in Rolly View, Alberta and moved to Edmonton in 1949. Martha and Ron married on November 23, 1949 and were happily married for 61 years before Ron’s passing on January 9, 2011. Martha’s love and passion was singing. Starting as a child with her siblings milking cows, singing in the choirs at Churches; Ascension Lutheran, Holy Spirit Lutheran and Hope Lutheran (Palm Desert, CA) she sang and or whistled from morning to night. She devoted her life as a Domestic Engineer to her husband Ron. Her second passion was gardening and flowers. In 1970 she took up Golf with the Ladies league at the Derrick Clubs accomplishing a few Hole in One’s. From 1970 until 2006 Ron and Martha enjoyed spending their Winters in Palm Springs (Rancho Mirage) CA. Martha was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2003. In 2007 she moved into Garneau Hall, then Riverbend Retirement. Since 2014 Martha has resided at Exquisicare in Upper Windermere. The care, support, compassion and love she received at Exquisicare was beyond exceptional and we are sincerely GRATEFUL the last 5 years of her life were in this loving home environment. To Dawn Harsch and your incredible staff we THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. We also are very grateful to Ely, her hairdresser for over 35 years who came weekly to Exquisicare to beautify Mom. Last, yet not at all least, our hearts sincerely thank Doris Quintero for her love, loyalty and devotion to Mom for over 26 years. A Celebration Memorial Service and Interment will be held in July 2019. Flowers gratefully declined. If so desired donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
