Obituary of Margaret Mary Campbell
> Margaret Mary Campbell was born to John Berg and Virginia Rosaline Pruett on September 2, 1942 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She passed away on September 20, 2019 in San Diego, California at Sharp Memorial Hospital surrounded by the love of her family. > > Margaret is preceded by her husband Bruce Arthur Campbell, her sisters Theresa Leuker, Catherine Couey, Gemma Pruett, Michelle Pavao and her brothers Bernard Pruett and Timothy Pruett. She is survived by her beloved children David Campbell, Dennis Campbell, Shawn Campbell, Jeanine Barker (Daniel), Kristen Campbell Gonzalez, Brian Campbell, and Nick Campbell (Patricia Mussenden). She had seven grandchildren she loved dearly Megan Campbell, Alyssa Campbell, Ashlynn Barker, Brinley Barker, Ayden Gonzalez, Elijah Campbell, and James Campbell. Margaret's surviving siblings are Francis Pruett, Joseph Pruett, Paul Pruett, Thomas Pruett, Bernadette Lantinga, Peter Pruett, Mary Garcia, Leo Pruett, Charles Pruett, and Michael Pruett. > > Margaret devoted her life to God and the service of others. As one of the oldest of 17 children, she helped her mother care for her siblings. When she started a family of her own with her husband of 49 years, she became a stay at home mom and homemaker. She put the needs of her family before her own always. When she became a grandma, her favorite role, she became a second mom to all of her grandchildren. She loved her family deeply. > > Always one to put God first, you could count on Margaret's prayers. She attended mass daily when she was able. She served her parish community of Our Lady of Grace by becoming a Eucharistic Minister and spending her Sunday mornings at Montera and Country Manor bringing God to the homebound residents. > > Margaret was the best cook and baker. She cooked with love and didn't need to measure. Some of her children's favorite homemade dishes were lasagna, pizza, burritos, tacos and her famous chocolate chip cookies. > > Margaret attended Sacred Heart Catholic High School her freshmen and sophomore years, but attended Rosary High School her junior and senior years graduating in 1961. She became a certified beautician and worked full time at a hair salon while simultaneously working part time at the restaurant of a family friend, Tommy Lowe's Chinese Restaurant. From 1986-1989 Margaret worked at the San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium starting as a concession stand employee and becoming a concession stand manager. Her serving heart volunteered as a teacher's aide and playground supervisor at Johnson Avenue School (1975-1988) and at Anza Elementary School (1988-1994). > > Margaret's celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in El Cajon. We will begin with the Rosary at 9:30am, Mass at 10am, Interment at 11:30 at Holy Cross Cemetery and Mausoleum in San Diego, followed by a reception at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
