Myron "Jack" Mayer

Myron “Jack” John Mayer passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at his home on his beloved Torch Lake on October 6th, 2019. Jack was born in Merrill Michigan on March 29th, 1927 to the late Myron Parm & Lucile Marrie (Crawford) Mayer. Jack graduated from Merrill High School and became a home contractor building homes for over 30 years in the Saginaw Valley. Jack’s hobbies were hunting, fishing, woodworking, Golfing, bowling and was always enjoying the beauty of Torch Lake. He was an avid swimmer, boater & Hobie Cat skipper. He water skied til he was 85 years old and enjoyed his Wave runner up until 3 weeks ago. Jack was predeceased by his sister Joyce (Mayer) Warner. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Joann Rose (Gagne) Mayer; Children Gregory John, Michelle Ann, Grant David and Carrie Marrie; Grand children Michael, Ryan, Renee, Morgan, Wesley, Allyson (deceased), Austin, Connor; Great grand children Paisley, Jackson, Jacob and Senri. Funeral Services will be held at 2pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 404 Spruce St, Elk Rapids, MI 49629 (231)-264-8167. Sandwiches and coffee to follow in the fellowship hall.
