Russel William Genet

Russel William Genet, 85, of Evansville, IN, passed away May 8, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born November 5, 1933 in Perry County, IN to the late John Russell and Naomi Louise (Howe) Genet. Russel served in the Air Force from 1952 – 1956. He retired in 1999 from S.I.G.E.C.O. after 41 years of service. Russel was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church. He was a devoted Christian and his faith was very important to him. Russel married his wife, Patricia on January 23, 1954. They were very talented square dancers, square dancing for many years together. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Lily Rose Genet. Russel is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia Louise (Freedlund) Genet, daughter, Pamela Smith, Evansville, IN; son Michael Genet (Lourdes), Valrico, FL; grandchildren, Abby Smith, Amanda Genet, and Jonathan Genet; sister, Marilyn Schmitz; and brother, Ronald Genet. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2019 at Alexander East Chapel with private entombment at Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
