Rockwood G. Summerfield Sr.

Rockwood G. Summerfield, Sr. “Rocky” age 80, passed away on May 10, 2019. He was survived by his wife of 14 years; Iris Summerfield and was preceded in death by his first wife of 44 years; the late Maryann Earleen Summerfield; loving Father of Rockwood G. Summerfield, Jr. He was born on November 23, 1938 in Elkins, West Virginia to his late parents Norman McHenry and Roberta K. McMillen. He is preceded in death by 3 sisters; Shirley, Phyllis and Eva; and also 6 brothers; Charles, Norman, Clarence, Jack, Stanley and Bruce. He is also survived by 3 more sisters, Gloria, Monafay, and Agnes; nieces, nephews, one grand-daughter and 3 great grandsons. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17 in December 1955, and served this Country honorably until his discharge in 1959. He laid roots and worked numerous jobs in the Washington D.C. metro area until landing his dream job with the U. S. Postal Service. There he worked his way up the ranks to Station Supervisor until his retirement in 1993. He moved to Florida where he enjoyed his retirement and years later on to the Chicago Metro area until his passing. Rockwood’s life will be celebrated by family with interment at Quantico National Cemetery with full Marine Corps honors.
