Steven Dean Greij Jr.

Steven Dean Greij, Jr., 25, passed away in his family home on Aug. 31, 2019. He was a lifelong resident of Orlando and a student at Primrose Center, a program for intellectually and developmentally delayed individuals. Throughout the years, he attended Princeton House Charter School and graduated from Magnolia School. Stevie enjoyed swimming, dancing, books, Blue’s Clues, Dora the Explorer, Clifford, Snoopy and anything Disney. His favorite character was Peter Pan. He had an infectious laugh and was always smiling; a very happy soul to be around. He participated in the Special Olympics for many years, and was a member of the Boy Scouts, Troop 900. Stevie is survived by his parents, Steven Dean and Cherilynn Jill (Johnston) Greij, paternal grandparents Eldon and Maxine Greij, uncles Jerry (Linda) Johnston, Jon (Leslie) Johnston, Paul (Patty) Greij and aunt Laura (Kirk) Slater, cousins Jill (Mark) Hutchison, Jeremy (Amy) Johnston, Alyson (Alex) Dever, Lauren (Chad) Blankenship, Peter, Maxine & Jennifer Greij, Austin, Grant, Elliott & Seth Slater, in addition to many loving family members and close friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Vancil and Virginia Johnston and uncle Van Johnston. A celebration of life is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 15, Stevie’s birthday, at Woodlawn Memorial Garden, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Rd., Gotha, Florida. Visitation is from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., with a brief service beginning at 2 p.m., Pastor Arnold Porter officiating. The attire should truly be in honor of Stevie, please wear shorts or jeans, and colorful shirts with a Hawaiian print or your favorite Disney, cartoon or book character. No ties, please.
