Philip Price Todd, age 42 passed away suddenly on May 1, 2019 in Ontario, Canada. Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 10am – 12pm at Hill Funeral Home – 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 12pm. Philip was born in Sedro Woolley, WA, on March 29th, 1977 to Paula and William Todd of Ferndale, Washington. He began his childhood education in Elsah, Illinois attending Principia Lower School in St Louis, MO. Followed by public schooling in Williamsburg, Virginia, and then a year in Connecticut at Daycroft School. Philip graduated from Byron High School in 1995. Among other athletic awards during his school years, he won a “Hustle Award” for his contributions as a member of the football team, the Byron Eagles. During the summers of 93' and ‘94, Philip was a camp counselor at Crystal Lake Camps, in Pennsylvania, where he was a mentor for young campers. Philip earned his MBA from the University of Phoenix in 2010, and a Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering (BSE) degree in Mechanical Engineering (ME) from Kettering University in Flint, Michigan in 2000. He valued the life-long friendships made while there and as an alumnus of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Philip’s family honors him as one of the hardest working people they have ever known. His many successes can be attributed to his creativity, energy, industriousness and persistence. After graduating college he spent a winter on a fishing boat in Alaska, hauling in fish in the Behring Sea. Over the next 20 years he held various positions in the engineering field for various automotive engineering companies in Oakland County, such as; Senior Development Engineer at TRW Automotive, Program Engineer at Tenneco, Senior Engineer at both Bosch and Brembo, most recently working for Pierburg US, LLC, where he was responsible for refining the design of exhaust systems. In this line of work, Phil had so many wonderful opportunities to travel internationally which he highly appreciated. For relaxation, Philip fished (catch and release). For fun, he skateboarded. But most loved of all was his hobby as an entrepreneur. Always on the lookout for a good deal, he spent the last 10 years building a bustling, impressive, and successful eBay business. His family caught his contagious excitement while attending auctions with him or receiving sales reports and seeing images of new purchases he expected to re-sell. Philip recently kicked the business into overdrive, in joyful anticipation of a newborn son arriving later this year. As a dog-lover Philip not only doted on his two wonderful dogs, Bonita (Bonie) and Fonzy, but any pets in his extended family. Friends and family had fun with Philip's sensational sense of humor. He would often catch people off-guard with his comedic timing and one-liners, with a delivery so absolutely perfect that those around him couldn’t help but break into laughter. Philip loved the holidays. Christmas being the favorite. He would decorate every room in his house and go completely overboard with presents for his loved ones, especially his mother. His thoughtful gifts on birthdays and other holidays were a true testament to his generous and unselfish nature. As much as holidays, Phil loved family events joining them whenever and wherever he could. Philip was a very active member of Kensington Community Church in Birmingham, Michigan. He often volunteered at this church and church events, arriving early and leaving late, each Sunday, in order to help with set-up and break-down and actively contributed to his churches charities. Philip grew a fantastic beard which he recently shaved, an action which unbeknownst to him, broke his brother’s heart. Survived by his mother Paula Todd (Boston, MA), father William Price Todd (Kathy), (Bay Center, WA) brother Kelsey Todd (Vanessa) (St Louis); Step-sister, Mickey West (Mark) (Seattle, WA); his Aunts and Uncles, Jody Wilkinson, Richard (Scott ) Zolinski (Valerie), Robert (Chip) Zolinski, Jr. (Lisa), and James Zolinski (Laurie). And first cousins Karleigh Zolinski, Rebeca Schendel (Michael), Sophie Zolinski, Trisha Lord (Michael), Alicia Zolinski, Wendy Zolinski, and Eric Zolinski. From the Todd side of the family are Larry Todd (deceased), Tracey Todd Kleinhans (John), Rosemary Todd Freeman (Brad), Julia Todd Fox (Stuart), and and first cousins Chris and David Todd, Katie and Todd Kleinhans, Tammy and Cary Cruea and Kit and Robin Fox. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in honor of and for the care of Philip’s soon to be born son.
