Phyllis Saxman Holman was “Promoted to Glory” on July 3, 2019 at home after a long illness. A Memorial Service will be held at Flint Citadel Salvation Army, 211 W. Kearsley St., Flint on Saturday, September 7, 2019. Visitation from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon with the Memorial Service at 12:00 noon. She was born on February 13, 1935. As the daughter of a Methodist minister, Phyllis lived in a number of cities throughout Michigan. She graduated from Sault Ste. Marie High School in 1953, and then attended Albion College where she met the love of her life, Richard T. Holman, whom she married in 1955. Phyllis taught in the Flint Community Schools before becoming a stay-at-home mother. She enjoyed sewing and was a master seamstress later becoming a teacher for Community Ed where she taught a variety of sewing classes. Phyllis was a member of The Salvation Army Flint Citadel Band League. Her favorite place to be was Pickerel Lake in Petoskey where she spent her summers since childhood. Phyllis leaves behind three sons Steven (Connie) Holman of Florida, Scott (Debbie) Holman of Flushing, and Craig Holman of Colorado; 4 grandchildren Lauren Augenstein, Courtney Pike, Sean Holman, and Catherine Koehler; 5 great grandchildren; a brother David (Sandi) Saxman; brother-in-law William Agre; and many nieces and nephews. The family is thankful for the many caring cards Phyllis received during her declining health. We extend a special thank you to her caregiver Terri Morrow; special friends Sandra Hale, Linda Larned, and Kelly Tolcher; and her McLaren Hospice Nurse, Shelly. You all made it possible for Phyllis to remain home with her beloved dog Kiah. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Richard T. Holman, parents Walter C.B. and Ruth (Maze) Saxman, and sisters-in-law Margaret (Jim) Fedraw and Marian Agre. Phyllis and Richard will be interned together at Bay View Memorial Gardens. Contributions may be made to The Salvation Army Flint Citadel Band. Arrangements by the Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E.
