William Allen Wells

William Allen Wells passed away 6 June 2019 at his home in Grants Pass. He was born on a farm in Gurdon Arkansas 20 February, 1928. He was the oldest son to Morgan and Maggie Wells. He had 3 brothers, Ted, Pryce and Jewell Wade and 2 sisters Laureen and Tollie all have predeceased him. He married Dorothy Juanita Russell on 28 May, 1948. They moved to Glendale Oregon in February 1951 where they lived until 2014. He started out working in the woods as a logger and log truck driver but was seriously injured in a log truck accident in 1952. He spent 6 months in a hospital in California with fractured vertebrae in his neck and back. After recovery he went to work at Patterson's mill until 1960 when he moved to Superior Lumber Company where he worked for 30 years until he retired. He enjoyed gardening and raising cattle. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish the Rogue & Snake Rivers and several of Oregon's mountain lakes. He also loved to hunt for deer and elk near John Day, Oregon. He is survived by daughter Karen Taylor, son Ron Wells, grandsons Ryan Taylor & Michael Taylor, granddaughter Chrissie Crawford, great grandsons Justin Taylor, Kaden Taylor, Jacob Taylor, Oliver Taylor & Hunter Fortune and great granddaughters Destiny Taylor and Samantha Crawford. Funeral services will be held at the Baptist Church in Glendale on Friday June 14th at 2:00 pm.
