Obituary of Audrey Viola Pilon

IN THE CARE OF

JA Snow Funeral Home

Surrounded by the loving presence of Walter, her husband of 69 years, and their children, Audrey Pilon of Sheldrake Lake passed on July 7, 2019 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax. She was born October 20, 1924 in Lower Tantallon, to James Dell and Gladys Bernice (Smith) Boutilier. Raised in a loving family of 12 children, Mom lived a long, full and vibrant life to the end. After an early career in secretarial work, she and Dad were married in 1950 and travelled throughout the country given his military career. Settling in Sheldrake Lake in the home that they built upon Dad's retirement, Mom devoted herself to her family. She was happiest when surrounded by her large and loving extended family, hosting many memorable gatherings. Until very recently, Mom and Dad took great pleasure from their many travels around the country and the world, often with or visiting family. Mom had an appreciation for beauty and a sense of style that was evident to all and a very engaging smile. She is survived by her partner for life, Walter; children, Peter (Charlene) Pilon, Suzanne Skeete, and David (Elizabeth) Pilon; grandchildren, Matthew (Kate) Pilon and Daniel Pilon, Ryan (Amelia) Gregg and Hayley Gregg, Jacob Pilon and Sacha Pilon, Lana Skeete and Jenna (Jared) Thacker; and great-granddaughter, Clementine Gregg. Also surviving are brother, Innes (Nancy) Boutilier; and siblings-in-law, Raymond (Rose) Pilon, Joyce Kelly, Philip (Marilyn) Pilon, Paul Pilon, Irma Boutilier, Alice Boutilier and Doreen Boutilier; and many nieces and nephews who thought the world of her. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings, Bruce Boutilier, Cora (George) Nash, Ray Boutilier, Doug Boutilier, Avis (Frank) Foster, James Boutilier, Elsie (Roy) Sadler, Eric (Margaret) Boutilier, Morley Boutilier and Maxine (Ken) MacKay; her siblings-in-law, Victor Pilon, Bob (Marie) Pilon and Edward Kelly; and by her son-in-law, John Skeete. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 10th, from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service on Thursday at 2 p.m. with The Rev. Deacon Marilyn Hamlin officiating, both in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax. Donations in Mom's memory may be made to a charity of your choice. We would like to thank all of those who shared their love of Mom over her long life and to acknowledge the kindness and care she received in her final days from the staff of 7.4 of the QEII. Mom, you will lovingly remain in our hearts always.
