Obituary of Brenda Ann Aucoin-Carter

IN THE CARE OF

JA Snow Funeral Home

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brenda Aucoin-Carter. A loving wife, mother and sister, Brenda passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends on Tuesday, April 9, at the QEII Hospital. Brenda was the daughter of the late Jerome and Marie Hilda (LeBlanc) Aucoin. She is survived by her loving husband, Chuck; her two beloved children, Noah and Ava and her constant companion, Charlie; sisters, Lucille (Kevin), Janice (Chris); sister-in-law, Penny (Jeff), brother-in-law, Scott (Rosie) nieces and nephews; Jeremy (godson), Mary Beth, William, Jordan, Annique, Kytel, Brittany, Andre, Caitlyn; many close friends, tight knit cousins, aunts and uncles. Brenda was born in Waltham, MA, and raised in St. Joseph du Moine, NS, a place which always remained close to her heart. She graduated from NSTC in 1990 and taught French Immersion for the HRSB for several years, finishing off her career at Prospect Road Elementary. Brenda’s teaching career allowed her to not only educate, but to impact and touch the lives of many students. She was a nurturing teacher, students and parents who were lucky enough to have Brenda as a teacher spoke highly of her, even if she had taught them 20 years ago. Brenda lived her life for her children Noah and Ava, she loved them beyond measure. Her husband Chuck was devoted to being there for her unconditionally throughout the years they were together. Despite many years of being sick, Brenda never let her illnesses bring her down, she was a brave warrior during her struggles. She remained positive and always said “There are people worse off than me.” Brenda was very loving and generous to her family and friends and always focused on others rather than herself. She spent many Saturday mornings chatting with friends during their “Coffee Club” time. She also enjoyed her monthly “French Connection” dinners with her besties Lorna, Marie-Hélène, Jennifer, Jeanne, Lois, Nathalie, Diane, Manon and Natalie D. When she was well, Brenda loved vacationing with her favorite cousin Annette in Chéticamp and spent days relaxing at the beach with her children, sisters, nephews, nieces and cousins. She especially loved trying to skunk Jerry at Crib and playing 200 with the crew. She also loved pranking her cousin David and having long conversations with her cousin Gisele. Brenda made us laugh, left her mark of courage and humanity on everyone she met. She was a gentle soul, thankful for everyone and everything around her. We would like to thank the dedicated staff of nurses and doctors of the ICU Unit 5.2 at the QEII for their support and professionalism. We would also like to thank Annette, Gilles, Lorna, Marie Helene, Jennifer, Nathalie, Lois, Jeanne, Manon and Natalie for their constant support during this difficult time. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be Saturday, April 13, from 3-6 pm with the funeral scheduled for Sunday, April 14, at 2 pm. All services will be held at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, NS. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Brenda’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an education fund for Brenda’s children. (RBC Royal Bank Transit 05783 Account 5206735) Brenda’s spirit, memory and inspiration will be part of us forever. Until we meet again
