Obituary of Colin Denis Chalmers

IN THE CARE OF

JA Snow Funeral Home

CHALMERS, Colin Denis passed away unexpectedly at the QEII hospital from complications of pneumonia on Thursday March 7, 2019. Though it was sudden, Colin was surrounded by loved ones in his final minutes. He would have been 38 years old next month. Colin was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia to Paul & Dianne. Colin was devoted to his family. He married the love of his life, Courtney, only 18 months ago and together they created a blended family that included 5 beautiful children. He resided in Hammonds Plains with his family, where he enjoyed having nature all around him. He was the most loving Daddy, devoted husband, and best friend, son, and brother anyone could ask for. Colin lived to love. An avid tech-lover with a background in geomatics from COGS, Colin worked as a structural surveyor with Cherubini Metal Works in Dartmouth, NS. In addition to his family, his passions were everything a nerdy dream is made of, from the weather to trees (but especially the weather). Colin never refused a good meal, a craft beer, or a chance to strum his guitar. Most recently he was waiting for fishing season to try out his first fly rod. Colin is pre-deceased by grandparents Reginald (Reg) Charlton, John Chalmers, and Georgette Chalmers. Colin is survived by his beloved wife, Courtney (Sheppard); his 5 children, Cole, Sam, Violet, Taylor, and Carter; his parents Paul Chalmers (Debby Campbell) and Dianne Chalmers; his brothers Ben Chalmers (Allison) and Scott Chalmers (Ky); his grandmother Marguerite Charlton; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. Arrangements are under the care and direction of JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive in Halifax, NS where a Celebration of Colin’s life will be held on Sunday March 17, 2019 at 2:00PM Remembrances may be made in any form desired by family & friends. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many medical staff at both the Cobequid Community Health Centre and the QEII Halifax Infirmary for providing the best possible care to Colin. The family’s final wish is for you to take extra time with your loved ones and enjoy the simple things in life, as that is how Colin lived during his short time here.
