IN THE CARE OF
Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home
With heartfelt sadness, Donna’s family and friends announce her passing on the morning of Monday, September 23 with daughter Alison by her side. Donna was born in 1944 in Alberta and raised on a farm near Wetaskiwin some thirty miles south of Edmonton. She earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Alberta and in 1966, went to Newfoundland where she lived for about 2 ½ years in Cornerbrook and Stephenville. There she began her thirty-one year career with the Federal Department of Manpower and Immigration, which subsequently brought her to Nova Scotia to work in their Halifax, Windsor, and Kentville offices. She raised her children in Wolfville and spent much of the last twenty years in Halifax, where she enjoyed many musical events, participating in the St George's community, hosting lovely ESL students from around the world, and all the other things she did with dear friends. Donna was predeceased by her much-loved brother Edward Lind in 2017 and special cousin Joy Nystrom. She is survived by her son Jeffrey, daughter-in-law Kanako, and granddaughter Emma who reside in Tokyo and by her daughter Alison and her partner Jeremy Tan who live in Montreal. She will be missed by family and friends in Alberta, Montreal, the UK, Sweden, Japan and her many, many friends in the Maritimes. Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be scattered in Alberta in the future. Donations if desired may be made to St Georges Round Church or the Canadian Cancer Society.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 19 at 10 a.m. in St. George’s Round Church 2222 Brunswick Street, in Halifax.
