Edna Mary Avery

Edna Mary Avery (Eloquin) We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beautiful Edna Mary Avery (Eloquin), wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother on June 3, 2019 at approximately 7:40 pm at the QEII Hospital, in the arms of her daughter Dianne. She was born in des Iles de la Madeleine, Quebec, on December 23, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Placide and Alda Eloquin. She moved to Halifax as a young lady where she met and fell in love with her husband of 70 years; David Avery. She was a hard worker through the years, working for Dominion Stores and later where she managed the United Cigar store in Woolco at Scotia Square. She had such a love for life, family and friends. Her heart was always so full of love that those around her always felt it radiate from her. She so enjoyed get-togethers with family and dances with her hubby. In fact, she was the happiest when her family was around her, be it for special gatherings or simply for supper, with a glass or two of white wine. She is survived by her husband David, son David, daughter Dianne Cowie and her very special son-in-law Frank. Grandchildren Lori Purdy (Kelly), Michelle Munroe (Trevor), Michael Cowie (Tyler), Tara Avery (Carl), Stephen Avery and Cheryl Avery Foort (Kyle). Great-grandchildren Zachary, Brendan, Franklin, Rachel, Torie, Rowan and Finn. She is also survived by her brother Edmond Eloquin (Bernadette), sisters Simone and Florence Eloquin and her many nieces and nephews in des Iles de la Madeleine. She was pre-deceased by her parents, brothers Toni, Leo, Raymond and Martin. Sisters Laura, Marianne, Alexina and Jackie. Special thanks to all the wonderful doctors and nurses at 8.4 who took wonderful care of her in her last days. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her but we know she lives on in our hearts and in our many memories of her.
