Obituary of Frances Elizabeth Moriarty
Our Mother, Frances Moriarty completed her life’s journey peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2019 in Northwood Manor at the age of 92. Born in Halifax to the late Thomas and Agnes (Gill) Nunn she was raised on Walnut Street. She and her Husband, Don raised their children in the same home. It was a full loving home with Mom always welcoming extended family and friends. She was ‘mom’ not only to her nine children but many neighbourhood kids. Mom was happiest being a Mother, then Nan and grand nanny. In later years she and Dad moved to the community of Shad Bay were the family spent summers. Here she liked working in her gardens, entertaining, boating on Prospect Bay and was always happy to see the grandchildren visit. In Retirement, she and Dad loved to travel visiting China, Australia, England and Europe. They also enjoyed spending their winters in Largo, Florida. She was happy at a bridge table, bridge being her game of choice but creative counting at the game of crib with the kids a close second. She is survived by sons, Don (Linda) Dartmouth and grandchildren Nick (Marcie), Luke and Jacquelyn; Michael, Halifax and grandchildren Lora, Melanie and Peter; Tom, Glace Bay and grandchildren Chelsea, Cora Leigh and Erin; Bruce, Perth, Australia and grandchildren Ryan and Kate; Brian (Monica), Halifax and grandchildren Alex (Rubi) and Kathleen; daughters; Susan (Rick Servatiak), Tatamagouche and grandchildren Jeff Horne (Jessica) and Stacey Desousa (Blair) and Barbara (Michael Furlong), Halifax and granddaughters Nicole and Jillian. She is also survived by great grandchildren; Gaylin, Devon, Jacob, Liam, Sophia, Cassidy, Henryk, Brad (Samantha), Stella, Ruby, Spencer, Bryce and William. She was predeceased by husband Don (Dinny), her youngest son Peter and eldest daughter Christine, survived by grandchildren Kaitlyn Moriarty, Christopher Cahoon, Yellowknife, Jennifer (Tony Tenwolde), and Colin Cahoon (Allison) of Bridgewater. She was the last member of her immediate family preceded by brothers, Joseph, Basil, and Father Henry Nunn; Sisters Margaret Beck and Marie Reardon. Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 16 in St Catherine of Siena Parish, Bayer Road, Halifax at 11AM. A reception will follow in the Church Hall. A private family burial will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank Northwood Halifax, Assisted Living Program but especially the 9th floor of the manor for the wonderful care provided Mom over the last few years, you kept a smile on her face. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. “YOU KNOW" Mom, we love you.
