JA Snow Funeral Home

Willdey, Juliana Belle (Julie) – Nov. 21st 1943 – June 25th 2018 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Julie (Turnbull) Willdey. She will be deeply missed. Julie was predeceased by her loving husband LCdr Tom Willdey, and her parents, Mildred (Porter) and Gordon Turnbull. Julie was born and raised in Digby, NS. She graduated from Acadia in 1964, went on to complete her B.Ed at Dalhousie, and obtained a business diploma from Mount Saint Vincent. Julie taught mathematics for a few years but luckily for us she chose to stay home with her family. What a treat to arrive home to our sweet mother and home-baked brown bread throughout our childhood! Julie was known by many for her delicious pies and you could always count on a pair of hand-knit socks or mittens. Julie was a person of faith and lived her life serving and caring for others. She volunteered much of her time helping those in need. Julie was very active in her church community; she was a long time member of the Catholic Women’s League, taught Sunday School for many years, and served in church ministries. Julie was a member of the Red Hat Society and loved spending time with her knitting friends, the “Knit-Wits”. She is survived by her three children, Karla (David), Katherine (John), and Brian. Gram will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Willy, Elliott, Lila, Jack, and Sophia and by her great grandchildren, Clara-June and Harvey. She leaves behind two loyal brothers, Perry (Elizabeth) Turnbull and Robert (Janice) Turnbull along with many special nieces, nephews and wonderful relatives and friends. Visitation Friday June 29th from 6 -8 pm, Funeral Service Saturday June 30 at 1:00pm, both at JA Snow Funeral Home, Halifax. Donations in Julie’s memory may be made to the ALS Society of Canada.
