Obituary of Leo Michael Mallay

MALLAY, Leo Michael – age 66 of Lakeside NS passed away April 10, 2019 at the Victoria General hospital after a brief illness surrounded by family. Born in St. John’s Newfoundland. He was the son of the late Jim and Florence (O’Keefe) Mallay. Leo was involved with the Knights of Columbus (Cole Harbour Branch) for several years. He enjoyed a good game of cards on our many family visits to Newfoundland. He also loved to talk especially long conversations with his brother and father in law. Leo also enjoyed chatting with our neighbours from the back deck just as much. He loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed. Throughout Leo’s working career he held sale and customer service positions for various companies and was employed by the Canadian Diabetes Association at the time of his passing. He is survived by his wife, Carol (Ainsworth) Mallay of 45 years. Daughter Claire Mallay (Joey Cheverie). Sister, Carol (Cyril) Gollop. Brother, Jim (Cindy Brenton) Mallay. Brother in law, Ron (Carlotta) Kline. Grandchildren, Presley, Jagger and Hart, whom he loved dearly. Also survived by serveral nieces and nephews and many cousins and extended family. Cremation has taken place. There will be no vitiation by request. A memorial service will be held in J A Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax at 2pm on Saturday April 27, 2019 with a reception to follow. Burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers donation can be made to The Canadian Diabetes Association or the Atlantic Canada Multi-Organ Transplant Program.
