Lizzie Sitland

Lizzie Sitland (94; Northwood, Halifax) was the daughter of the late Rupert and Mary Jane Green (Rencontre West, Herimitage Bay, Newfoundland). She is survived by her daughter Shirley (Glenn); grandchildren Scott Grandy (Heather, Halifax) and Jacqueline Boorman (Glen, Fredericton), great grandchildren Olivia and Hilary (Fredericton), sisters Rosie Cake (Abe; NF), Mary Miles (George; PQ) and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband George, daughter Sandra and son Kenneth. She was also predeceased by her bothers Richard (Shirley) and Enos (Jessie) Green. Lizzie was a fixture at Northwood for over 30 years, both as a volunteer and then as a resident. Her kindness,generosity and sense of humour touched everyone she interacted with. She embodied everything that was good about the human spirit and was loved by family and friends. She will always be remembered for her tea biscuits, brown sugar fudge and knitted dishcloths. Her grand-daughters and grand-dogs held a very special place in her heart and she was not shy to brag about them. Lizzie loved her family dearly and always looked forward to spending time with them. With her 94 years of life came great wisdom that she happily shared. Most recently she gave some great advice to her grand-daughters on how to sew the perfect “srcunchie”. Lizzie left family and friends with countless memories to make us smile; she will never be forgotten. A special thanks to the staff as the QEII Emergency Department and Dr. Green (Neurology). Also to the staff and nurses at 9 Manor Assisted Living at Northwood, you kindness and compassion was greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Northwood foundation. Service to be held on Friday, June 7th at 1000 AM at CFH with burial to follow at Camphill Cemetery.
