Robert Britton
December 18, 1945 – March 29, 2019

Bob Britton, much loved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, aged 73, of Halifax, died March 29, 2019 in the palliative care unit at the VG hospital . Born in Montreal, QC, he was the son of John and Estelle (Linahen) Britton.
Bob was the last director of social services for the old city of Halifax. In 1989, Bob was ordained a Deacon and served several parishes in the city. In 1999, he was appointed Chancellor of the Diocese until the time of his death.
Survived by his wife of 51 years, Paulette (Curran); four daughters, Colleen, Sarah (Tim) Purdy, Joanne (Bill) Shaw, and Peggy; two sons, Robert (Chrissy Lynch), and Matt; two brothers, John (Mary) and Peter (Vicky); two sisters, Estelle Lefurgey and Rita Britton; two granddaughters, Emma Purdy and Brenna Shaw. Predeceased by his parents, John and Estelle Britton, in-laws, Ralph and Gertrude Curran, brothers, Jim, Lawrence, Gerald, and Frank.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 1, 2019 at 2-4 pm at Cruikshank's Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St, Halifax and 7-9 pm at St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica, 5221 Spring Garden Road, Halifax. Liturgy of the Word will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at 10am at St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica, Most Reverend Archbishop Anthony Mancini officiating. Interment in Mount Olivet cemetery.
Family flowers only. Bob’s family is very grateful for the exceptional care he received from the doctors, and staff of the cancer care centre and the caring staff of palliative care.
