Angela Kelemen

Peacefully, surrounded by family, Angela Kelemen (nee Husnak) was called to God in her 100th year. Predeceased by her husband Franjo (1943). Loving mother of Steve Kelemen (Barbara) and Vera Staresinic (John). Dear grandmother of Brian Kelemen (Cathie), Linda Kelemen, John Staresinic Jr. (Susanne), Michael Staresinic (Lisa), and Christopher Staresinic. Proud great-grandmother of Michael, Natalie, Tyler, Lucas, Caitlyn, Kyle, and Carter. Fondly remembered by her nephew Eddie Rodek (Judy) and many nephews and nieces in Croatia and Canada. Angela is predeceased by her parents Steve and Magda Husnak, and her sister Eva Crepinko. Affectionately known to many as “Mrs. Husnak”, Angela was the face of Husnak Grocery on Beach Road for many decades, serving the community with her famous kobasa and other Croatian specialties. She was always welcoming to anyone who walked through her doors, and helped so many new immigrants when they first arrived to Hamilton. Her smile and generosity will never be forgotten. Angela was a founding member of Holy Cross Church and was involved in the Catholic Women’s League. She was a proud member of the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 954. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 6 from 2-4 pm and 6-9 pm at Markey Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King St. East, Hamilton. Prayer service to be held at 7 pm. Funeral mass to be celebrated at Holy Cross Croatian Church, 1883 King St. East on Monday, October 7 at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations to Holy Cross Church, the Croatian National Home Building Fund, or the Anne Eleyonich CFU Lodge 954 Scholarship Fund would be appreciated by the family.
